An all-women project between East and West
Balkan Ladies Connexion brings together six outstanding instrumentalists from five countries – France, Hungary, Greece, Turkey and Germany. The project was created by French violinist Aurore Voilqué as a special commission for the Welcome in Tziganie festival.
The music of Django Reinhardt meets melodies from Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Orient: gypsy jazz, Balkan and oriental music blend into original compositions and freshly arranged traditionals. Violin, qanun, guitar, double bass, percussion, accordion and voices take the audience on a musical journey without borders.
